Baltimore County NAACP ACT-SO to Host Fundraising Screening of Michael at Historic Pikes Theatre

The Baltimore County NAACP ACT-SO program will host a special fundraising movie showing of Michael, the 2026 biographical drama directed by Antoine Fuqua, on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the historic Pikes Theatre, located at 921 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, MD 21208. Baltimore County’s local ACT-SO contestants who are advancing to the national competition will be on hand to showcase their work and share what ACT-SO has meant to them.

Michael chronicles the life and career of Michael Jackson, from his rise with the Jackson 5 to his legendary solo career. The film offers audiences an opportunity to revisit the music, artistry, and cultural impact of one of the most influential entertainers of all time.

Tickets are $20 each, with $1 off concessions included. Tickets may be purchased online at:

All proceeds will support Baltimore County NAACP ACT-SO youth participants as they prepare to compete locally and, for qualifying students, nationally.

ACT-SO, the NAACP’s Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics, is a yearlong achievement program designed to recruit, stimulate, and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among high school students. Students work with volunteers, mentors, and coaches to develop projects and performances in categories spanning the sciences, humanities, business, performing arts, visual arts, culinary arts, and more. Local gold medalists may advance to the National ACT-SO Competition, where students attend workshops, network with peers and professionals, and compete for scholarships, prizes, and national recognition.

“This fundraiser is a chance for the community to enjoy a fan-favorite film while investing directly in Baltimore County students,” said Mrs. Marietta English “ACT-SO helps young people develop their talents, build confidence, and experience the power of excellence, mentorship, and opportunity.”

Community members, families, students, educators, and supporters are encouraged to attend.
