“HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL MOTHERS”

Hello everyone, how are you? The weather is breaking into a warm Spring and a hot Summer with live shows in all shape and form. You want to support our musicians now while they are alive and on stage to entertain you. As you know, a couple of weeks ago we lost a couple of our musicians just days and weeks between each other. The lost of Carlos Johnson and James Pope last month was very sad. So, when you hear about or read about any of your local musicians performing, go see them, support them.

This week, I want to talk about “Jazzway 6004” which is a house concert jazz series and a creative Arts 501(c) 3 non-profit organization run by a husband & wife team; Howard and Marianne Matheny Katz. Their goals are to build a diverse community of jazz listeners in Baltimore and the surrounding areas and to expand their reach to more of the US through Streaming to present the best in local and touring jazz, and to foster jazz education. They have full concert videos available. For more information, call 410-952-5582. I’ll see you on May 9 at their 8 p.m. concert featuring Sharon Clark. Next month they will feature for their 16th Anniversary vibraphone masters, Warren Wolf and Joe Locke. Check it out.

Sharon Clark & the Chris Grasso Trio will be performing at Jazzway 6004, at 6004 Hollins in Baltimore on Saturday, May 9th. Dinner at 6 p.m. Concert time is 8 p.m. They will be doing a special tribute to Baltimore’s own Ethel Ennis. For ticket information, email m2katz@comcast.net.

The time is here again. I am talking about my concerts at the Pennsylvania Avenue Bakery outdoor live entertainment in the courtyard at Pennsylvania Avenue and Baker Street. My line up starting the first Saturday in June through the first Saturday in September from 4-7 p.m. It is BYOB, with dinner, pastry and home-made rolls on sale while we are celebrating James Hamlin, the owner of the Bakery 15th Anniversary. It is open to the public and it is free. My entertainment line-up will be in my next Rambling Rose Column.

 “WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME”

When tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand; The angel said my place was ready, In Heaven far above and that I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But when I walked through Heaven’s Gates, I felt so much at home, for God looked down, smiled at me, and told me, “Welcome Home”. So, when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart, for every time you think of me, I’m right there in your heart.
