TBS, OWN Announce Release Dates For Award-Winning Documentary
TNT Sports, in partnership with OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, has acquired the documentary feature ONE GOLDEN SUMMER. In the summer of 2014, a group of boys from the South Side of Chicago did the impossible: they captured the hearts of a nation, becoming the first all-Black team to win the U.S. Little League Championship. But when their title was stripped months later over questionable residency boundaries, the magic of that "Golden Summer" was buried under a mountain of headlines and heartbreak. ONE GOLDEN SUMMER will premiere on Tuesday, April 7, 10:30 pm (ET) on TBS following the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Toronto Blue Jays game and on OWN as an OWN SPOTLIGHT on Thursday, May 7, 2026.

The award-winning documentary transcends the baseball field, delivering a cinematic journey that beats with the heart of Chicago’s South Side. It is an intimate invitation into the world of the “Greatest Show on Dirt,” where a city’s collective hope rested on the shoulders of thirteen young boys. Through rare, never-before-seen footage and raw, emotional reflections from the players—now grown men—the film navigates the heavy crown of victory and the crushing weight of a media firestorm that followed. By weaving together the pure joy of the game with a rigorous, eye-opening investigation into the systemic hurdles, the documentary creates an endearing and urgent portrait of brotherhood. It is a story of resilience that ultimately asks what truly makes a champion when the trophies are gone, but the bond remains.
