09:00 AM - 09:10 AM Welcome & Open Remarks Opening Charge: “Reach. Revenue. Relevance,”

Multicultural media outlets are trusted, community-rooted, and culturally fluent—but they remain fragmented, underfunded and under-supported. Similarly, multicultural media professionals lack the resources and know-how to launch entrepreneurial ventures and navigate the business side of media. The symposium launches a coalition effort to change that. The open remarks are designed to frame the Day and outline why this moment demands bold alignment to support multicultural media ownership, sustainability, and scale.

09:15 AM - 09:55 AM Panel 1: The Why Strengthening The Multicultural Media Ecosystem: The Economic and Social Imperative

This opening discussion explores why multicultural media is essential to the health of our economy and democracy. As disinformation spreads and trust in mainstream media erodes, many businesses, organizations and political campaigns still struggle to authentically engage the growing multicultural market, despite its undeniable size and influence. Community-rooted media outlets and diverse news providers are uniquely positioned to reach this “New Majority” with credibility and cultural fluency. Leaders from business and philanthropy will share why investing in multicultural media is not just a social good, but a strategic imperative.
